So why not take advantage of the season and give this easy fruit smoothie recipe a try and enjoy all your favorite fruit in a glass?

Want to know what makes fruit smoothies so easy?  It’s because you can be creative, you can pretty much add whatever you have available in your kitchen.  Each concoction will taste different than the one before and you can enjoy the season and all the fruits.

Oh, and let’s not forget that everyone, especially kids love these delicious but nutritional drinks.  

Fruit smoothies have a great taste when you use fresh fruit but you can always use frozen fruit or a combination of both.

Easy Fruit Smoothie Recipe-a good basic start

  • 8-12 oz of your choice of liquid-water, coconut water, almond or soy milk
  • 1 banana (tip:  you can always freeze peeled bananas, great way to have bananas around without them getting too ripe.)
  • handful of strawberries
  • handful of blueberries
  • handful of raspberries
  • chunk of pineapple
  • optional:  1/2 cup of yogurt
  • 1 cup of ice
  • blend until smooth

This is where you can be creative-what else do you have around the kitchen?  Cherries?  Mango?  Papaya or raspberries?  Go ahead, throw those extra fruits in your blender too.

For additional nutrition you can always add an avocado and/or a handful of spinach or kale.

How about a Supercharge?

As with all of our smoothie recipe ideas, we really love adding supercharge ingredients.  Flaxseed sure has a lot of health benefits, including mega doses of Omega 3’s-add a few tablespoons to your smoothie. How about a little chia powder to take the edge off of your hunger pangs?  Adding a couple scoops of whey, soy or veggie protein can turn your smoothie into a protein power house and a safe meal replacement.
